"Given the heterogeneity that exists for ending relationships, it is likely that mate ejection tendencies lie along a continuum. At opposite tales of the distribution, individuals are either very likely, or very unlikely to end a relationship. This is not to say that individuals falling in one tail of the distribution would be incapable of ending a relationship. Rather, that they would be expected to feel either exceedingly conflicted (or exceedingly self-assured, depending on their location along the curve) regarding a decision to break up with their partner."
