Science:

Why should you study the sciences?

-----

"A few angles:

Practical power. Science built the modern world: medicine, electricity, computing, agriculture, clean water. If you want to understand or shape the systems you live inside, science is the toolkit.

Mental discipline. It trains you to separate evidence from opinion, to spot sloppy reasoning, and to tolerate uncertainty until data arrives. That skill bleeds into every part of life.

Career leverage. STEM skills are in demand everywhere—research, industry, policy, even finance. Studying science doesn’t box you in, it opens doors.

Perspective. Knowing how evolution works, or how stars are born, or how neurons fire, gives you a deeper sense of place in the universe. That’s a kind of meaning people don’t always expect.

Defense against ignorance. In an era of misinformation, pseudoscience, and conspiracy theories, scientific literacy is a survival skill.

So: you should study science because it sharpens your mind, empowers your life, and connects you to reality in a way nothing else does."
