Trennungen:

Warum haftet Trennungsphasen oft etwas Schönes an? Der Aktivierung und Lebendigkeit wegen?

So eine Art "umgekehrte Verliebtheitsphase", sozusagen.

Poetry:

I would love to do the things poets do. At least for a few weeks.

Time to forget:

"Early in 1982, I received an unexpected packet from London containing a letter from Harold Pinter and the manuscript of a new play, A Kind of Alaska, which, he said, had been inspired by a case history of mine in Awakenings. In his letter, Pinter said that he read my book when it originally came out in 1973 and had immediately wondered about the problems presented by a dramatic adaptation of this. But, seeing no ready solution to these problems, he had then forgotten about it. One morning eight years later, Pinter wrote, he had awoken with the first image and first words ("Something is happening") clear and pressing in his mind. The play had then "written itself" in the days and weeks that followed.
I could not help contrasting this with a play (inspired by same case history) which I had been sent four years earlier, where the author, in an accompanying letter, said that he had read Awakenings two months before and been so "influenced," so possessed, by it that he felt impelled to write a play straightaway. Whereas I loved Pinter's play - not least because it effected so profound a transformation, a "Pinterization" of my own themes - I felt the 1978 play to be grossly derivative, for it lifted, sometimes, whole sentences from my own book without transforming them in the least. It seemed to me less an original play than plagiarism or a parody (yet there was no doubting the author's "obsession" or good faith).
I was not sure what to make of this. Was the author too lazy, or too lacking in talent or originality, to make the needed transformation of my work? Or was the problem essentially one of incubation, that he had not allowed himself enough time for the experience of reading Awakenings to sink in? Nor had he allowed himself, as Pinter did, time to forget it, to let it fall into his unconscious, where it might link with other experiences and thoughts."

Oliver Sacks - The River of Consciousness

Festgelegtheit:

Poetry:

Poetry / Inspiration:

"I finished off the trail crew season and went on a long mountain meditation walk for ten days across some wilderness. During that process - thinking about things and my life - I just dropped poetry. I don't want to sound precious, but in some sense I did drop it. Then I started writing poems that were better. From that time forward I always looked on the poems I wrote as gifts that were not essential to my life; If I never wrote another one, it wouldn't be a tragedy. Ever since, every poem I've written has been like a surprise ... You get a good poem and you don't know where it came from."

Tiefe:

Gedanken:

An Dich Gedacht
An manchem Tag
In mancher Nacht.

Kultur:

Wie ein Lied
Über alles Wertvolle
In und an
Dieser Welt.

Fröhlichkeit:

Fröhlichkeit,
Ein gar eigener Gast,
Der doch alles
Mit Leichtigkeit
Und Wärme
Einfärbt.
Cal Newport:

"A key theme of my work in the technology critic space is that a life without serious, sustained, intentional thought is impoverished. Thinking is how we make sense of ourselves and the world, and is how we imagine new horizons and create the key elements of our future. It’s at the heart of philosophy, theology, and human empathy; the ability that separates our species from all other animals.

Silicon Valley is good at creating tools, but terrible at figuring out how we should use them. The latter step is still up to us — but it requires us to care."

The Creative Work:

 Silvano Arieti:

"The creative work may make us laugh, when we are confronted with something new which is witty and comical; may offer us aesthetic pleasure, when we are in the presence of works of art; may give us a feeling of transcendence, as in the fields of philosophy and religion; or may provide the qualities of usefulness, understanding, and predictability, as scientific innovations do."

What is a Classy Woman:

ChatGPT:

"A classy woman is a woman who combines elegance, self-respect, intelligence, emotional maturity, and a certain natural grace. What makes her classy is not primarily how she looks, how much money she has, or what clothes she wears, but how she carries herself and how she treats other people.

A classy woman has a certain composure. She doesn't need to attract attention constantly, prove her superiority, or impress everyone around her. There is something quietly confident about her. She knows her worth without feeling the need to advertise it.

She also possesses social intelligence. She understands different situations, knows when to speak and when to listen, and can make others feel comfortable without compromising her own personality. She can be charming, witty, playful, and even provocative without becoming unnecessarily crude or disrespectful.

An important characteristic is emotional maturity. A classy woman can disagree without immediately becoming hostile. She can express disappointment without deliberately humiliating someone. She doesn't necessarily avoid conflict, but she tries to handle it with dignity.

There is also something attractive about her intellectual curiosity. She has interests, opinions, and a life of her own. She is capable of meaningful conversations, enjoys exploring ideas, and doesn't define herself exclusively through her appearance or romantic relationships.

Interestingly, being classy and being passionate are not contradictions. A woman can be sophisticated in public, playful in private, ... affectionate, and spontaneous. Being classy doesn't mean being prudish, conservative, emotionally distant, or perpetually restrained.

A classy woman also has standards. She is selective about whom she allows into her life, not necessarily because she considers herself superior, but because she values her time, her emotional well-being, and the quality of her relationships.

And then there is authenticity. Perhaps the most attractive form of classiness is effortless. She doesn't continuously perform elegance. She can laugh loudly, make ridiculous jokes, show vulnerability, and occasionally behave quite foolishly without losing her fundamental dignity.

Ultimately, I would define a classy woman as a woman whose attractiveness extends far beyond her physical appearance because her character, intelligence, manners, and self-respect make her genuinely impressive.

And there is one distinction I find particularly interesting: A woman can look elegant without being classy, and she can be genuinely classy without looking particularly elegant.

Elegance is often something you notice immediately. Class is something you discover as you get to know someone."

Quality:

The struggle for quality makes life complicated.

Life would be much simpler if you didn't care about quality.

Ohne Gespräch:

Diese Furcht, dass der Gesprächstoff ausgeht.

Ohne Gespräch geht's dann weiter, sozusagen.

Longing:

Longing is such a great feeling.

We desire a thing or object that remains in some distance.

Sehnen:

Etwas kaum umschreibbar Wertvolles in großer Distanz erblicken.

Erinnerung an Verliebtheit:

Fifteen Books:

I want to read fifteen books from cover to cover in autumn.

(So roughly one book per week and some extra books. ;-) )

Breakups:

"How soon after a breakup do people enter a new relationship? And is that the same as the time it takes to fall for someone again? Someone may feel the rush of new attraction within weeks yet hesitate for months before calling it a relationship, or the reverse, settling quickly into something new without the spark."

Zeit:

Skill Development:

I should try to level up my skills almost daily.

Kisses & Sex:

Claude:

"These are Fermi estimates built from partner-count surveys and assortative mating, not measured numbers.

Definitions

  • Attractive: roughly the top 20% by broad outside consensus
  • Highly attractive: roughly the top 5%
Per lifetime, average manAttractive (top 20%)Highly attractive (top 5%)
Going for a kiss (incl. rejections)~2–5 times~0–2 times (median ~0–1)
Different women he has sex with~1–2 (median ~1)~0–1 (median 0)
Share of men who ever have sex with one~50–65%~20–35%

How often he has sex with them

This is where the picture splits into two very different groups, because most sex happens inside long-term relationships, not one-offs.

  • Men with a long-term partner from that tier. Because of assortative mating, very roughly 20–25% of men end up in a long relationship or marriage with a top-20% woman, and maybe 5–8% with a top-5% woman. For them, the count runs into the hundreds or even over a thousand times. Long-term couples average somewhere around once a week, declining with age and relationship length.
  • Everyone else. These men have either zero encounters or a handful from short relationships or flings.

So the median man has sex with an attractive woman somewhere between zero and a few dozen times in his life. With a highly attractive woman, the median is zero. The mean is much higher, but only because a minority of men with long-term partners in those tiers pull it up.

Bottom line

For the typical man, a highly attractive partner is a rare or nonexistent event, while an attractive one is something he experiences with one or two women. Within the “attractive” tier, the distribution is very bimodal: either almost never, or regularly for years with one partner.

Keep in mind that most men rate their own partners as attractive, so these outside-consensus numbers say little about how men experience their own love lives."

Vom Grunde her:

Selbstreflexion:

(A) Wo man ist
(B) Wie man da hingelangt ist
(C) Wo man noch hinkommen möchte

Selbst:

“Going for the kiss”:

" “Going for the kiss” suggests a deliberate decision to move from romantic possibility to physical intimacy. Rather than merely responding to someone else's initiative, you become the person who makes that transition happen.

There is often an element of courage involved. You may have noticed signs of attraction, experienced physical closeness, or felt that the moment was right. Nevertheless, you cannot know with absolute certainty how the other person will respond. You are taking a small interpersonal risk.

The expression also emphasizes the difference between wanting something to happen and actively making it happen. Two people might be attracted to each other for hours without either taking the initiative. Eventually, one of them decides to cross that threshold.

And this brings me to another distinction: “Going for the kiss” doesn't mean being certain of success. It means being willing to act despite some uncertainty.

That is partly why the expression has a rather romantic quality. It describes a moment when attraction becomes action."

Joking & Seriousness:

"Joking probably gives lightness, playfulness, and relief from intensity. It helps the interaction breathe. But serious topics do something different: they reveal priorities, fears, values, judgments, memories, convictions, and the things a person is willing to become emotionally exposed around. That is why those conversations can feel like much deeper contact. You are not only exchanging words; you are learning how a person organizes his or her inner life."

Seriousness & Attractiveness:

"someone can seem objectively just as attractive while joking, but subjectively much more beautiful when speaking earnestly."

Revealing Speech:

"People often become more compelling when they stop merely being socially entertaining and start speaking from somewhere personally meaningful. Their speech becomes less ornamental and more revealing. There is a shift from “performance” to “this actually matters to me.” "

Substance:

"people who are not only pleasant, attractive, or socially smooth, but who clearly have convictions, interests, concerns, questions, or commitments that matter to them."

Projected Chastity:

Heather Remoff, Sexual Choice:

Stoicism:

In the modern sense, Stoicism is mainly about nurturing and maintaining a long-term perspective.

Expressive Beauty:

Why do some men and women appear so beautiful when they talk about things that truly matter to them?

Auf's Ganze:

Man gibt, was man kann, und schaut, was passiert.

Big Wins:

Some people tend to aim for the jackpot — for the big win!

Honesty & Directness:

To be as honest and direct as possible — with directness always taken as far as the situation allows, permits, and makes appropriate — while also not resenting others for doing the same, but always welcoming it when someone responds or acts honestly and directly.

The greater amount of feedback that a direct person gives and receives is what makes the difference.

Ultimately, both together lead to a more effective, fuller life.

Prosaic Aims:

- I want to earn more money

- I want to write better poems

Freitag, 2. Oktober 2026

Ehrlichkeit & Direktheit:

Man sagt eher, was man möchte, was einen stört, was man gut findet, wo man anderer Meinung ist.

Arbeitskollegen:

(Diverse) Arbeitskollegen mögen mich so. Kommen auf mich zu. Gehen mir entgegen.

Was ist Philosophieren?
