Modernity:

A few thousand years ago, humans lived on an unexplored planet—true terra incognita. It’s a little sad that so little of the world feels unknown today.

“Beyond the horizon there is still much unknown and unexplored territory left.” There are people who would have given anything to live in a world where that line still meant something.

In earlier times, the horizons of different cultures differed dramatically. Today, with a globalized world culture, most cultures share almost the same horizon.
