Two kinds of aggressive behavior:

Affective and predatory violence, Joseph E. McEllistrem, 2004:

>Descriptions of aggressive behavior in the forensic research have been adapted from clinical classification schemes and follow a bimodal classification. The first category falls under behaviors similarly described as "impulsive," "defensive," "hot blooded," "reactive," or "affective." In general, these designations reflect acts of aggression in response to a perceived threat, and typically are emotionally charged and relatively uncontrolled. The second category uses terms such as "predatory," "proactive," "attack," "instrumental," and "cold blooded." These terms describe acts of violence that are more purposeful and controlled, and that lack an emotional display. Whereas the first category reflects an attempt at threat reduction, the second category reflects aggression in the service of premeditated goals.<
