Das Animalische / The Animal Aspect:

Ein Überlebenswille (in gewisser Weise auch: ein 

Fortpflanzugswille) macht das tierische Leben 

überhaupt erst interessant.

Reduktionistisch ließe sich sagen:

Ein Lebewesen ist nichts als ein 

physikalisch-chemischer Prozess.

Von subjektiver Seite aus gesehen gibt das Streben, 

zu Überleben, dem Leben erst den großen Reiz.

Ein jeder Mensch trägt dieses Animalische in sich.
Zugleich aber gibt es hier vieles, das über ein Streben
nach einem bloßen Über- und Fortleben weit hinaus-

greifen kann.

Das Geistige somit stets: Ein Hinausgreifen über
Horizonte, ein Übersteigen von Grenzen.

A will to survive (in a certain sense also: a will to reproduce) is what makes animal life interesting in the first place.

From a reductionist point of view, one could say:
A living being is nothing but a physico-chemical process.

From the subjective perspective, the striving to survive is what gives life its great appeal in the first place.

Every human being carries this animal nature within themselves.
At the same time, however, much exists here that can reach far beyond mere striving for survival and procreation.

The spiritual, therefore, is always this:
a reaching beyond horizons, a stepping beyond boundaries.
