Social Interaction:

Alexander:

>“Society” does not provide you with social interaction. If there are people at local bars, if the nightclub is full of women, if your school clubs are active, if you have drinks with coworkers after work - these are all outcomes produced by individuals. A multitude of people must choose to get together for any of these things to happen. They are not things that simply exist, out there in the world, created by third parties or “social forces,” and waiting for you to partake of. They require your own active organization and participation to exist in the first place. Many of you are bemoaning the lack of community institutions that you do not participate in yourself, but that require large numbers of voluntary participants. As if “society” has an obligation to create a club for you and also somehow provide the people. And here is the reality of it - even if someone could wave a wand and create a vibrant, thriving community, a men’s club, a fraternity, a nightclub full of beautiful women, a church with spirit, or whatever it is you want - many of you would not go. You would not in a million years attend the event that you claim that you want, because you are an awkward introvert. You don’t actually enjoy talking to and spending time with people. You’re probably not very good at it. You don’t like striking up conversations with strangers. You have things you would rather do than go to a social event by yourself or throw a party at your house. You would rather use social media and play video games than walk around a shopping mall in 1991.<
